MACHIASPORT, Maine — The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the report of a possible sexual assault in the small coastal community of Machiasport, authorities confirmed Monday.
Two men entered a home one morning last week and allegedly assaulted a woman who lived there, reported Lt. Travis Willey.
The victim was a woman in her 40s, according to Willey. The identities of the men were not known.
“It’s being investigated as a possible sexual assault,” Willey said Monday.
It was a “fairly brief” incident, and the men left the scene afterward, he said. The woman reported the alleged assault to emergency dispatchers.
The incident occurred about 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday of last week.
