MACHIAS, Maine — A 76-year-old Steuben man made bail Tuesday following his arrest for domestic assault, authorities reported Wednesday.

Cecil Hall was arrested at his home on Monday evening, according to Sgt. Brandon Parker of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

Hall was accused of assaulting his girlfriend in an incident that occurred roughly between 8 and 9 p.m. Monday, said Parker.

“It was basically a wrestling match,” said Parker, and Hall knocked the woman down and pushed her face to the floor. She suffered minor scrapes, he said.

Both people appeared to be “extremely intoxicated,” said Parker.

Although there were initial reports that a knife was used in the assault, no weapon was involved, said Parker.

Hall was taken to the Washington County Jail in Machias following his arrest Monday night, but he was released on bail the next day, according to Parker.
