ROCKLAND, Maine — The Regional School Unit 13 board voted unanimously Thursday night to hire Maine School Management Agency to help the board with its search for a new superintendent.

The management agency charges $150 per hour and the estimated cost for the services will total $2,000-$3,000, board Chairman Steve Roberts told the board. MSMA will put together the applications and resumes that are received, check qualifications and schedule interviews.

Board member Carol Bachofner said if the board had to do the work it would be a huge task.

The board will be advertising the position at and Maine newspapers within the next week.

Bachofner said public forums are needed to gather input from the community on what residents want in a superintendent.

Former Superintendent Lew Collins resigned Feb. 15. The board hired Michael Wilhelm to serve as interim superintendent through May.
