WISCASSET – Maurice L. Pickering,69, of West Alna Road, died suddenly Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at a Portland hospital with his family by his side. He was born in Castine, Aug. 6, 1944, a son of Lester W. and Ruby M. (Perkins) Pickering. He attended Bucksport and Wiscasset schools. On Oct. 6, 196, he married Dorothy J. Grover. Maurice was a self-employed truck driver for many years. From 1991 until his retirement on Oct. 1, 2013, he was employed by the Town of Wiscasset.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dorothy “Dot” Pickering; his son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Lori Pickering; his two daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Stanley Dalton and Penny and Tom Niles; and his sister, Edith Cronk, all of Wiscasset. He leaves behind five grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and two step-great-grandchildren.
A celebration of his life was held March 1, 2014, at the Alna Fire Department. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Wiscasset, in the spring.
