ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. – Lorena Raye Beers, 83, passed away peacefully in St. Petersburg, Fla., on Sunday, March 23, 2014. She was born Aug. 4, 1930, in McAdam, N.B. Canada, to the late Malcolm and Alma (Cole) Saunders.
Lorena graduated from McAdam High School. She married Hugh Alton Beers in 1948 and they lived together in Bangor before retiring to Zephyrhills, Fla. Lorena was an educator in the food service industry and also worked with children with special needs at the Elizabeth Levinson Center in Bangor. Lorena was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star and the Ladies of the Oriental Shrine. She enjoyed traveling and took several national and international trips with her husband and family during her lifetime.
Lorena is survived by her beloved husband, Hugh; and five children, Deborah King, Gregory Beers and Cindy, Jeffrey Beers and Holly, Dana Beers and Lisa, and Heidi Celichowski. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service celebrating Lorena’s life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Menorah Manor Foundation in St. Petersburg, Fla.
