PORTLAND, Maine — A Portland man was hospitalized after allegedly being stabbed repeatedly with a pair of scissors.

The stabbing occurred after two men who reportedly knew each other got into a fight in a room on the fourth floor of a building at 132 Marginal Way, according to WMTW-TV, Portland’s ABC affiliate.

The victim was stabbed several times in the lower back, according to Portland police Lt. Robert Ridge. He was taken to Maine Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The stabbing was reported at approximately 6:30 p.m., Ridge said.

A man who had blood on himself was found in the area of Trader Joe’s on Marginal Way and was stopped for questioning, Ridge said. The man was later released.

No charges had been filed as of 9 a.m. Thursday. Police have interviewed several witnesses, but the victim has not been cooperating in sharing details of the assault, Ridge said.
