DOVER-FOXCROFT, Maine — No arrests have been made in connection with a shooting that injured a man on Tuesday morning, police said.

Dover-Foxcroft police said Wednesday morning the case remains under investigation and police plan to speak with the district attorney’s office. Two other men were at the residence on Lancaster Avenue where the shooting occurred.

The men’s names have not been disclosed, and the man who was shot was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.

The weapon involved was a .22-caliber rifle, and a motive for the shooting is not yet known.

Piscataquis County District Attorney R. Christopher Almy stated in an email Wednesday that he has been in contact with investigators. “The case is still under investigation. The [Dover-Foxcroft] police department is working diligently to gather all the evidence so we can better understand what happened and why,” Almy wrote.
