SKOWHEGAN, Maine — An 83-year-old woman was found dead near Walmart on Monday afternoon, according to police.

The body of Shirley Woods was located by game wardens around 3:30 p.m. Monday, Skowhegan police Chief Ted Blais said.

Woods, who was known to have dementia, according to Blais, was reported missing by her son shortly before 1 p.m. when a nurse arrived at Woods’ residence and did not find her there.

Woods lived by herself, Blais said.

Game wardens responded and found Woods’ body near Walmart, Blais said. Her death is not being considered suspicious.

“Nothing at the scene indicated foul play,” Blais said.

Blais said a cause of death has yet to be determined.
