ROCKLAND, Maine — Police and emergency medical crews received a report Wednesday night that a pedestrian had been hit on Route 1 by a vehicle that did not stop.

On Thursday morning, Deputy Rockland Police Chief Wally Tower said the investigation is continuing.

A passing motorist found the woman in a ditch next to the Salvation Army building. The woman told police she had been hit by a vehicle. The woman was not injured, Tower said.

Route 1 was reduced to one lane for about 15 minutes while emergency crews were at the scene.

No other information was being released.
