GARLAND, Maine — Penobscot County sheriff’s deputies received a complaint of an attempted dog theft on Tuesday, but no animals were stolen.

Chief Deputy Troy Morton said deputies were dispatched to a Millett Road residence when it was reported a man attempted to lure a woman’s chocolate Lab into his vehicle.

Morton said the man, who was driving an older model SUV, drove off and the dog was not stolen. The call came in as a suspicious complaint, the chief deputy said.

Morton said the case remains open and no arrests have been made.
