PALMYRA, Maine — A bomb threat early Thursday morning forced the evacuation of the Dunkin’ Donuts on Oxbow Road, according to police.

The sequence of events started just before 1 a.m. when the restaurant received a call stating there was a bomb in a bathroom, according to Chief Deputy Dale Lancaster of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office.

Two subsequent calls were placed to the restaurant, one that indicated “you only have a few minutes left,” and another that went unanswered, Lancaster said.

Police arrived and canvassed the building with a bomb-sniffing dog and found nothing suspicious, Lancaster said.

Newport police and fire officials assisted sheriff’s deputies in the incident, Lancaster said. No arrests have been made and no injuries were reported.

Anyone with information on the incident should call the sheriff’s office at 474-9591. The department’s tip line can be accessed by calling 474-0230 or emailing sherifftips@somersetcounty-me.org.
