MILFORD, Maine — A man’s kayak capsized while he was out for a paddle in the Penobscot River in Milford on Monday.

The man, whose name wasn’t immediately available, tipped over while kayking along the river around 3 p.m., Deputy James Ellis of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office said.

The man managed to get to shore on the Indian Island side of the river, according to Ellis.

A passer-by saw the man in the river and called 911, Ellis said.

Old Town and Milford firefighters went to the river.

Ellis said the man was wearing a life jacket.
