WATERVILLE, Maine — A pair of local men are facing multiple charges after allegedly leading police on a foot pursuit.
The sequence of events leading to the arrests of Jordan Buker, 20, of Waterville and Caleb Rossignol, 20, of Pittsfield began around 1 a.m. Friday when police tried to stop an SUV Buker was driving for running a stop sign on the Concourse, Waterville Deputy Chief Charles Rumsey said.
The vehicle turned in to a parking lot and both men bailed out of the vehicle before it stopped, Rumsey said. The vehicle subsequently struck a building which houses a U.S. Cellular store, but the building only suffered minimal damage, Rumsey said.
Police pursued both men, catching Rossignol, but Buker managed to escape before turning himself in later Friday, the deputy chief said.
Investigative efforts revealed that the SUV, a Mercedes, was stolen from a Pittsfield residence and a 9 mm handgun was found inside, Rumsey said.
Police charged Buker with theft by receiving stolen property, theft by unauthorized use of property, refusing to submit to arrest, leaving the scene of an accident and driving to endanger, while Rossignol was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and possession of stolen property.
Both men were taken to Kennebec County Jail.
