Husson University

BANGOR — Husson University is now the home of the first and only chapter of the entrepreneur honor society Sigma Nu Tau in the state of Maine. The Husson chapter of the organization is only the 17th in the country.

On April 29, Husson inducted the charter class of the honor society into the organization. The mission of Sigma Nu Tau is to promote, recognize, and reward academic excellence in entrepreneurship and to encourage and recognize the practice of principled entrepreneurship.

The induction was part of an award ceremony held by the Husson University College of Business.

University of Maine

ORONO — These University of Maine students recently were initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi:

• Gianna Marrs of Bangor.

• Nathan Stormer of Bangor.

• Denise Skonberg of Winterport.

University of Southern Maine

The University of Southern Maine College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences in Gorham honored its best students recently during its annual Student Recognition Day awards ceremony on April 28. Area students receiving scholarships were:

• Martin Conte of Orland, Dean’s Scholarship in honor of Virginia Weaver. Conte also received the Barbara Jandebeur Scholarship for English.

• Michael Havlin of  Hampden, Maine Higher Education Assistance Foundation Scholarship for economics or business.

• Tina Fleur Davis of  Bucksport, Warren Memorial Foundation Scholarship for fine and performing arts.

• Kamdra Prendergast of Brewer, Warren Memorial Foundation Scholarship for fine and performing arts.
