WOOLWICH, Maine — Two people were arrested late Thursday in connection with a heroin distribution operation in Lincoln and Sagadahoc counties, according to officials.

Nicholas Buscanera, 21, of Westport and Stephanie Little, 28, of Edgecomb were both charged with aggravated trafficking in heroin, a Class A crime, according to a statement from the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.

The MDEA has gathered information that the pair was traveling out of state on Thursday to obtain drugs and sell them in the midcoast region, according to the statement. The investigation had been ongoing for several months.

Shortly before midnight, the pair’s vehicle was stopped on Route 1 in Woolwich by Sagadahoc County sheriff’s deputies, according to the MDEA, and a search of the vehicle turned up two bags that contained 72 grams of heroin.

The drugs had not been packaged for resale and had a street value of $72,000.

Buscanera and Little were taken to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset. Bail was set at $5,000 cash for each.
