ROCKLAND, Maine — The Maine Lobster Festival announced Thursday that Sen. Edward Mazurek will be the grand marshal of the 2014 parade.
The festival board also announced in a news release that the theme for this year’s event will be “Lobster Livin’ — the Families Behind The Industry.”
“This doesn’t just mean the family members who live with the fishermen/fisherwomen, this is about the industry itself as a family — bait suppliers, processors, trap makers, buoy makers and all the rest of the people who make lobster living a family industry,” the organizers said in the news release.
The theme will be featured in the annual parade, Saturday, Aug. 2, as well as the fine art tent, the children’s parade and many more events.
Mazurek, the state senator for most of Knox County, will retire at the end of the year. He also served eight years in the Maine House and was on the Rockland City Council, serving two years as its mayor. He is a retired teacher and coach from Rockland District High School.

The 67th annual festival will run from July 30 through Aug. 3.
