DAMARISCOTTA, Maine — A New Harbor man injured in a car crash early Sunday morning has died of his injuries.
Deven L. Kear, 48, died Monday at Maine Medical Center in Portland following the crash on Biscay Road, according to Damariscotta Police Chief Ron Young.
Young said Wednesday that alcohol was a factor in the crash, and that Kear was apparently driving 80 to 100 miles per hour prior to the crash. The speed limit in that section of Biscay Road is 40 miles per hour.
Kear and his passenger, Tucker Phinney, were extricated from the car, The Lincoln County News reported Monday. Kear was flown by LifeFlight of Maine to Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta and eventually to Maine Medical Center.
Phinney “is up and walking around,” Young said Wednesday.
