FARMINGTON, Maine — A Franklin County justice sentenced a Hallowell man Friday to serve 4½ years in state prison for a home invasion on Nov. 11, 2013, in Chesterville while a teenage girl was home alone.
Stephen Dingus, 32, pleaded guilty to a felony charge of burglary in Franklin County Superior Court.
State prosecutors dismissed two misdemeanor charges of criminal mischief and possession of burglary tools in a plea agreement.
Dingus who has an “extensive criminal history” has been held on $20,000 cash bail since his arrest on a warrant in Augusta after a search by several law enforcement agencies last year, including the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department.
