MILBRIDGE, Maine — Three people were arrested on drug charges as the result of a routine traffic stop, Police Chief Lewis Pinkham reported Monday.

James Newenham, 30, of Milbridge, Jonathan Johnson, 31, of Addison and Lorisa Mckenney, 45, of Addison were charged with aggravated trafficking of Schedule W drugs, a felony, said Pinkham.

The three were apprehended in a traffic stop made by Sgt. James Malloy on Route 1A about 10 p.m. Friday. The vehicle in which they were traveling crossed the centerline, according to Pinkham.

The three are accused of having more than 8 grams of heroin in their possession along with crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia, according to Pinkham.

The vehicle was driven by a fourth person who was unaware the others had drugs in their possession, Pinkham said.

Newenham and Johnson also were charged with violation of conditions of release.

The three suspects were being held in the Washington County Jail, said Pinkham.

Malloy was aided by three members of the Maine State Police and a police dog.
