AUGUSTA, Maine — An Augusta woman has died from injuries suffered in a fire on May 7, according to officials.

Lorraine White, 81, died at Maine Medical Center in Portland where she was being treated for severe burns, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said.

White’s clothing caught fire while she was cooking at the Inn at City Hall on May 7, McCausland said.

In addition, investigators continue to seek a cause in a fatal fire that claimed the life of an elderly Livermore woman Tuesday night.

The body of Dorothy Goding, 83, was found in the living room sitting in a chair of a farmhouse that was destroyed by fire.

McCausland said Goding died of smoke inhalation. White’s and Goding’s deaths bring Maine’s 2014 fire death toll to 11.
