OLD TOWN, Maine — A Kenduskeag man was arrested earlier this month when Old Town police learned he had broken into a town redemption center.

Micah Bickmore, 19, claimed to police that he had been sleeping in the woods, but investigative efforts determined he had broken into the Skeeters Redemption Center in the late-evening hours of June 1, according to Old Town police Capt. Kyle Smart.

The events leading to Bickmore’s arrest began when Officer Justin Angelo was summoned to Anderson Lane for a suspicious complaint, and when he passed by the redemption center, Angelo noticed the door was open and immediately radioed for backup, Smart said.

While Angelo and Officer Keith Emery checked the building, Officer Josh Tilton checked on Bickmore, who claimed he was a transient sleeping in the area, according to Smart.

“His story didn’t match up,” Smart said.

When Angelo and Emery surveyed the building, they found a backpack with all of Bickmore’s belongings, and he confessed to the crime, Smart said.

Bickmore was arrested at about 12:30 a.m. June 2 and taken to Penobscot County Jail, where he was charged with burglary, a Class C felony.
