ORONO, Maine — Firefighters were able to quickly contain an electrical blaze at the Linkview Hotel on Route 2 on Thursday afternoon.
Orono fire Lt. Kevin Sirois said crews from Orono and Old Town were called to the scene shortly after 3 p.m.
Sirois said a junction box in a closet was the cause of the fire, which was contained quickly. One of the wires of the box had been chewed through, the lieutenant said.
“We’re not sure by what [it was chewed by],” Sirois said. “There were chew marks, and the metal was actually torn open.”
There was no structural damage to the building, and the interior had minimal damage, Sirois said. The fire was out in about a half an hour.
No injuries were reported.
