AUBURN, Maine — A Lewiston man is behind bars after he tried to rob a Walmart last Saturday night, according to Auburn police.

Ezra Fitzherbert, 25, was arrested for attempted robbery after he passed a note to a cashier demanding money. Police said another worker called 911, and police went to the store, found Fitzherbert, and arrested him without incident.

No weapon was used during the robbery attempt, and police said Fitzherbert did not tell the cashier he was armed. Fitzherbert is being held at the Androscoggin County Jail on $1,500 bail.
