LINCOLN, Maine – A local man was taken to Penobscot Valley Hospital after police and firefighters pulled him early Friday from an inlet to Mattanawcook Lake, police said.
Firefighters and police were called out at 12:50 a.m. on a report of a man jumping in the lake. When they arrived, they found a 45-year-old man in the inlet just slightly west of the lake near the dam that runs near Taylor and High streets and is between the lake and Mill Pond, said Dan Summers, Lincoln’s public safety director.
“He came right over to the firefighters and they pulled him out of the water,” Summers said Friday.
The man apparently had jumped in fully clothed. He was taken to the hospital for an evaluation. A hospital official declined to comment on whether he was admitted, transferred to another hospital or released.
Given the recent warm weather, Summers said he doubted that hypothermia would be a health risk, even though temperatures dropped into the low 60s.
