BANGOR, Maine — Bangor police patrol officers were busy Friday night when they decided to stop everyone driving through downtown to see if they were driving drunk, Sgt. Paul Kenison said Saturday morning.
The roadblock was set up at 6 State St.
They made two arrests and “detained a few more people and ran them through the process,” Kenison said.
Michael Morin Smith, 19, of Bangor and Randall Madden, 31, of Milford were charged with operating under the influence, Kenison said.
Smith remained at Penobscot County Jail Saturday morning, a jail official said.
“Sgt. Jason Stuart and his group did a great job and could have saved the life of one of your innocent friends or loved ones,” Sgt. Tim Cotton wrote in a Facebook post about the arrests. “We think that is a great job.”
