HOULTON, Maine — A Houlton man who was arrested in April after a fire in his garage led investigators to find items they suspected were involved in the manufacturing of methamphetamine was indicted by the Aroostook County grand jury July 11.
Aroostook County District Attorney Todd Collins released the list of indictments this week, saying Monday the grand jury handed down 60 indictments against 55 individuals.
Thomas O. Lowery, 36, was indicted for unlawful trafficking of scheduled drugs, cultivation of marijuana and criminal forfeiture.
The Houlton Fire Department responded to a garage fire at 5 Johnson St. in Houlton, then called the Houlton Police Department, which asked the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency to assist.
“Based upon evidence gathered during the investigation, agents had probable cause to believe that methamphetamine was being manufactured on the property,” MDEA Commander Peter Arno said.
