SANFORD, Maine — Police have confirmed the identity of a man who was found dead in Sanford on July 11.
Sanford police Det. Chad Allen said in a statement the deceased man is William J. Fawcett of Springvale.
Allen said foul play did not play a role in Fawcett’s death.
“The Office of the Chief Medical examiner has confirmed the cause of death as an accidental drowning,” Allen said.
Fawcett’s body was found on July 11 near the Mousam River Dam.
