AUGUSTA, Maine — A local woman allegedly involved in several purse-snatching incidents was arrested Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Audra Purington, 37, is facing four charges of theft, five counts of misuse of credit identification and eight counts of violation of conditions of release, Augusta Deputy Chief Jared Mills said.

Police had been seeking Purington in connection with purse thefts at the Augusta Walmart between June 28 and July 5.

Purington was arrested Wednesday on unrelated warrants and charged with the aforementioned counts by detectives, Mills said.

Purington is being held without bail at the Kennebec County Jail.
