CARIBOU, Maine — The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning Thursday evening for southwest Piscataquis County.

Shortly before 7 p.m., the weather service’s Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing quarter-size hail and damaging winds of up to 60 mph.

The storm was located 15 miles west of Guilford and moving east at 35 mph. Affected locations include Guilford, Dover-Foxcroft and Monson.

The warning remains in effect until 7:30 p.m., the weather service said.
