SKOWHEGAN, Maine — Riverside, Massachusetts pitchers limited Skowhegan to a combined three runs in two games Thursday, posting 11-2 and 6-1 victories to win the Cal Ripken 11U New England Regional baseball tournament.
In the first game, three pitchers combined on a six-hitter as Riverside (5-1) forced a decisive game. Starter Drew Blackwell went three innings for the win.
Tom McAndrews rapped a double and two singles, and Zach Guertin singled twice for the winners.
Kyle Kruse hit two singles to lead Skowhegan (3-2), and Ethan Curtis doubled.
In the title game, Blackwell and McAndrews combined on a four-hitter while McAndrews belted a home run and a double to pace the offense. McAndrews picked up a save.
Dominic Cignetti also homered for Riverside.
Cam Louder doubled and singled for Skowhegan.
McAndrews was named the tournament MVP, going 12-for-18 hitting with five home runs, a pitching win and a save.
