WINTERPORT, Maine — Charges are not expected to be filed in connection with a collision that sent a 13-year old bicyclist to a Bangor hospital Wednesday, according to authorities.
Chief Deputy Jeff Trafton of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday the boy is in serious but stable condition at Eastern Maine Medical Center.
The chief deputy did not release the boy’s name but said he is a resident of Winterport.
The teen was riding his bike along Whig Street, also Routes 139 and 69, when he was struck by a pickup driven by Andrew Ginn, 57, of Frankfort, the chief deputy said.
According to Trafton, preliminary investigation indicates that the boy “just turned right in front” of the pickup, and charges are not expected to be filed.
The accident remains under investigation.
