ORONO, Maine — The University of Maine women’s soccer team outshot Bryant University 15-4 on Sunday afternoon, but it was the Bulldogs who scored the only goal for a 1-0 victory at Mahaney Diamond.
Bryant (1-1) scored 9:04 into the contest on a rush when Hannah Crofut fed Katy Biagi, who kicked the ball past Maine ’keeper Claudia Dube-Trempe from inside the goal box. It was Biagi’s first goal of the season.
The Black Bears (1-1) generated several scoring chances to get the equalizer, but were not able to get the ball into the goal. Jordan Pellerin of Waterville had a pair of scoring chances late in the game.
Liis Emajoe led the Black Bears with three shots.
Dube-Trempe made two saves for UMaine, while Kaylan Conrad made three saves for the Bulldogs.
The Black Bears return to action on Friday, Aug. 29, when they travel to Fairfield for a 7 p.m. game.
