RUMFORD, Maine — A workplace accident at the NewPage paper mill in Rumford left one person dead Monday afternoon.
The incident happened shortly before 2:30 p.m., mill spokesman Tony Lyons said. He declined to provide additional details but did say that the person who died was employed by a contractor that was working at the facility.
Lyons said that the death is under investigation by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the Rumford Police Department.
