OGUNQUIT, Maine — A 10-year-old boy who had been reported missing early Friday afternoon was found safe, according to police.

Ogunquit police Lt. Matt Buttrick said the boy, who is from New Hampshire, was found safe by a member of the town’s fire department around 2 p.m.

The boy, whose name was not disclosed, was found in a store in town, Buttrick said, and the firefighter took him to the beach where he was reunited with his grandparents.

Buttrick said the boy and his grandparents were traveling toward the beach at the time of the disappearance, and he was riding a scooter.
