New staff member
BANGOR — The Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce announced that it has hired Shelley Sund as its new marketing and events coordinator.
Sund comes to the Chamber from Bangor Daily News, where she most recently held a position in sales and marketing graphics.
At the Chamber, Sund will be responsible for events, marketing and communications as well as supporting the membership and sponsorship sales function. She will report to Kate Grover, the Chamber’s vice president of marketing and membership.
Sund’s career spans more than 20 years, having started as a graphic designer in the publishing industry. For more than 10 years she has been a key member of the Bangor Daily News marketing team, and over the last few years has worked on NEWS events, including the annual Garden Show and other large-scale and well-known undertakings in the Bangor Region.
Sund has won numerous newspaper industry awards for her work.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in art with a minor in recreation management from the University of Maine at Presque Isle.
Sund’s first day with the Chamber will was Sept. 3.
CPA Series
BANGOR — A CPA Series hosted by Saint Joseph’s College and Barresi Financial Inc. will take place 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, at Hilton Garden Inn, 250 Haskell Road. Check-in and continental breakfast will be held 7-8 a.m.
The program is geared for Certified Public Accountants, financial and other professionals who need continuing education to meet licensing requirements.
Topics to be discussed will include qualified plans, business and estate planning, elder law planning, international business tax law, accounting case studies, ACA updates and benefit planning. For information, call 893-7825 or email jirvine@sjcme.edu.
