BATH, Maine — In a Friday ceremony on Bath’s waterfront, Capt. Robert Crowe will turn over the helm of the U.S. Navy’s Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Conversion and Repair at Bath Iron Works to Capt. Michael Taylor.
The ceremony also will honor Crowe, who will retire from the Navy after a 27-year career.
Taylor will become the 30th commander of the Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Conversion and Repair, which employs 300 civilian and active duty Department of Navy personnel, oversees the design and construction of Navy ships at Bath Iron Works and four other private shipyards in San Diego; Marinette, Wisconsin; and Anacortes, Washington.
Vice Adm. William Hilarides, commander of the Naval Sea Systems Command will speak at the ceremony, which is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at Waterfront Park on Commercial Street.
