CARIBOU, Maine — A local taxi driver escaped injury on Sunday after being robbed at knifepoint by a 17-year-old boy, according to the Caribou Police Department.
Just before 10:30 p.m., the Police Department received a call that a taxi driver had been robbed by an unknown male dressed in dark clothing on Hammond Street. The teen had wielded a knife and robbed him of an undisclosed amount of cash and checks before fleeing the area, according to police.
After searching for the perpetrator throughout most of their shift, Caribou police Officers Chad Cochran and Corey Saucier received information that the suspect was at a residence on Prospect Street. The 17-year-old, who police did not name because he is minor, was apprehended without incident and taken to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton. He is being charged with felony robbery.
Assisting Officers Cochran and Saucier was Officer Keith Ouellette of the Caribou Police Department.
