BANGOR, Maine — Nurses, doctors and staff clad in blue scrubs and white overcoats signed 12-foot-long steel beams during a picnic and barbecue at Eastern Maine Medical Center’s campus on Friday in Bangor.
EMMC’s staff were encouraged to autograph the final steel beams that will be hoisted in place above the main public elevators as part of the hospital’s modernization project, said hospital spokesman Joel Crabtree. Hundreds attended the lunch event at the hospital’s main campus as well as at their offices on Union Street and in Brewer.
