PARIS, Maine — A woman who crashed and killed two teens in West Paris will learn her fate in less than a month.

Twenty-one-year-old Kristina Lowe will be sentenced on October 1 for a crash that killed two of her friends, and the defense wants her to do no jail time.

Lowe was behind the wheel in 2012 when she crashed in West Paris, killing two teens in the car, 19-year-old Logan Dam and 16-year-old Rebecca Mason. Lowe was 19 at the time. A jury found her guilty of two counts of manslaughter in May.

Prosecutors are asking for five years behind bars. The defense is asking for community service where Lowe would educate students about the dangers of distracted driving.

Court officials confirm with CBS 13 News that Lowe’s sentencing on October 1 will be at 9 a.m. in South Paris.
