SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine — A local man was arrested late Thursday night on suspicion of stealing items from vehicles on Carter Street, police said.
Around 9 p.m., a witness noticed Brian Landry, 31, enter a vehicle that the witness knew was not Landry’s, according to South Portland police Sgt. Steve Webster.
A short time later, Landry allegedly walked to several neighboring driveways and pulled the door handle of vehicles, according to Webster.
When police arrived, they found Landry in possession of items believed to be stolen from a vehicle and arrested him.
A search of Landry’s home revealed several items that had been reported stolen, some of which has been identified and will be returned to rightful owners, Webster said.
Landry was charged with two counts of motor vehicle burglary and one count of receiving stolen property, a Class C felony due to prior convictions. He was taken to the Cumberland County Jail.
All vehicles that Landry was suspected of entering were unlocked, and police advised residents to lock their vehicles.
