WINSLOW, Maine — A Winslow man was taken into protective custody Friday afternoon after Winslow police were called to a China Road residence for a possible domestic violence situation.

Winslow police officers and Kennebec County sheriff’s deputies were sent to the area, Winslow Police Chief Shawn O’Leary said Friday in a news release. To ensure the safety of the public and because of the home’s close proximity to the road, China Road was blocked off to keep vehicles and pedestrians out of the area.

Upon further investigation, police determined that it was not a domestic violence incident but rather a mental health crisis. At this time, no charges are pending, the chief said.

No injuries occurred in connection with the incident.
