SACO, Maine — A four-car accident Saturday afternoon on Route 1 in Saco left four people injured, two cars severely damaged and traffic backed up for almost an hour, Portland television station WGME, CBS 13, reported.
Saco police are releasing few details about the accident, which happened in front Seacoast RV on Portland Road, which is Route 1. Police said two cars ended up in the travel lanes on both sides of the road, and four people were taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
One car was totaled, while another car’s front end had serious damage. Police are not saying what caused the accident, which remains under investigation.
One lane on each side of Route 1 was closed for around 45 minutes, while all four lanes were shut down while cars were towed away.
