Basketball officials class
HAMPDEN — Eastern Maine Board 111 of the International Association of Approved Basketball Officials will offer a Prospective Officials Class for those age 18 years or older interested in becoming certified basketball officials. Individuals living in Hancock, Knox, Penobscot, Piscataquis and Waldo counties are eligible to take this class, which will be held 6-8:30 p.m. Sundays and Wednesdays beginning Sunday, Sept. 21, at Reed’s Brook Middle School, Room 164. Classes will run for seven weeks culminating with a written test on Nov. 2. A fee is required that covers books, materials and testing. Coaches clinic
ORONO — University of Maine head basketball coaches Bob Walsh and Richard Barron will join forces with coaches Van Chancellor of LSU, Mississippi, Houston Comets and Dean Lockwood of Tennessee Lady Vols Asst., to host a Coaches Clinic noon-6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21 at Memorial Gym. The clinic will be followed by social time.
The clinic is open to basketball coaches of levels. There will be on court demonstrations, “chalk talks” and much more.

New officers
BANGOR — Fields4Kids announced recently the appointment of four officers to its board of
directors. They are Ben Smith of Guidance Point Retirement Services LLC, president; Joe Kacer of Commercial Divers Inc. and Sunny Day Builders, vice president; Lee Clein of the Bangor School System, secretary; and Matthew LeClair of Bangor Savings Bank, treasurer. Kacer and Clein have served previously in their roles, while Smith and LeClair will serve for the first time as officers.
Other members of the 2014-2015 Fields4Kids board of directors are Dr. Niamh Holohan; Joshua Gass of BETA Creative Agency; Aaron Walden of UPS and Jason Pelletier.
Fields4Kids is a nonprofit organization founded in 2009. Its mission is to provide safe and
