DALLAS PLANTATION, Maine — A New York woman’s car was damaged early Thursday morning in Franklin County when a moose rammed into it on Loon Lake Road.
Rita Tempel of Bellport, New York, spotted the moose in the road ahead of her around 1:30 a.m., according to Franklin County Sheriff Scott Nichols.
Tempel told police that the moose did not move away from her, and when she tried to drive slowly around it, the moose charged her Toyota Highlander, ramming the side of the vehicle, Nichols said.
Tempel was not hurt, and the moose walked away from the scene into the woods, Nichols said. Tempel’s vehicle was damaged.
