ST. ALBANS, Maine — A 70-year-old man involved in a three-vehicle accident in Canaan earlier this week was involved in another three-car wreck on Thursday, according to police.
Harold Field, 70, was attempting to turn from Todd’s Corner Road onto Willow Lane when his Ford Ranger pickup turned into the path of a sedan driven by Christopher Washburn, 27, of St. Albans, said Chief Deputy Dale Lancaster of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office.
“We’ll be working with the Secretary of State to evaluate Mr. Field’s driving capabilities,” Lancaster said Friday afternoon, adding that Fields will likely be summoned for failing to yield.
The impact of Thursday’s collision sent Washburn’s vehicle spinning 180 degrees into a car driven by Barbara Nason, 69, of Harmony, who also was heading north on Todd’s Corner Road, Lancaster said.
Nason and her passenger, Sarah Harding, 30, also of Harmony, were not injured, but Field had to be extricated from his totaled pickup.
Field and Washburn were both taken by ambulance to Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield, Lancaster said. Their injuries were not considered life threatening.
Lancaster said Washburn’s vehicle sustained extensive damage and Harding’s sustained minor damage.
Fields had been driving on Route 2 in Canaan on Tuesday when he didn’t see a stopped motorcycle in front of him and slammed into it, Lancaster said earlier this week.
