WATERVILLE — Megan Fortier scored two of Colby’s four first-half goals as the Mules rolled to a 5-0 field hockey victory over the University of Maine-Farmington Beavers Wednesday.
Fortier also assisted on Misha Strage’s first-half goal and Caitlin Guiney added an unassisted goal. McKayla Blanch chipped in with an unassisted second-half goal for the Mules, now 3-2.
Colby outshot UMF 34-3 with Patricia Smith and Alyssa Arsenault combining for 17 saves for UMF, now also 3-2. Colby’s Sarah Evans had two saves.
Women’s Soccer
Bowdoin 1, Bates 0
At Brunswick, Kiersten Turner’s first-half goal lifted Bowdoin by Bates.
Bridget McCarthy made five saves for Bowdoin (3-0) and Alyssa Morgosh had six for Bates (1-2).
USM 0, Salem State 0
At Gorham, Marissa Temple finished with 16 saves to help the University of Southern Maine tie Salem State in double overtime.
Rachel Ledbetter made four saves for Salem State (2-1-2), which outshot USM (2-4-1) 24-6.
St. Joseph’s 1, Thomas 0
At Standish, Angela Valenti’s goal off a Stacy Anuszewski assist at the 77th minute lifted St. Joseph’s by Thomas of Waterville.
Paige Leary finished with 20 saves for Thomas (3-4) while Brooke Troup made three for St. Joseph’s (4-4) to notch her second straight shutout.
Colby 3, UMF 0
At Waterville, Chandler Smith scored his second goal of the season for Colby’s first goal of the game en route to the win over UMaine-Farmington.
Smith scored at 32:54 and teammate Gray Louis added a second goal before halftime at 25:23.
The Mules (3-2) got an insurance goal from Yinka Onayemi.
Ronie Morales made six saves for UMF (0-3-1) and Cody Funkhouser earned the win for Colby, but didn’t have to make a save.
