CARIBOU, Maine — With temperatures expected to dip into the 20’s Thursday night, most of the state is under a freeze watch, according to the National Weather Service.

A high-pressure system from Canada is dropping into the area Thursday, bringing with it chilly overnight temperatures, according to the weather service.

Stretches of Maine as far west as Oxford County and as far north as southern Aroostook County are under the freeze watch, the weather service said.

The chilly temperatures are expected to last Thursday night into early Friday morning, the weather service said.

Crops and other sensitive vegetation may be at risk.
