STRATHAM, New Hampshire — The owner of the Mill Stores Furniture Outlets has announced additional store closings.
On Wednesday, company representatives announced they would be closing both New Hampshire stores in Stratham and Nashua, as well as several of their Massachusetts locations, including Plymouth, Canton, Raynham, Westborough, Yarmouth, West Harwich, as well as the North Kingstown, Rhode Island store.
On Thursday, it was announced that the stores in Scarborough, Maine, New Bedford, Massachusetts, and Manchester, Connecticut, would be closing, but Massachusetts stores in Yarmouth, Dennis Port and Harwich would remain open.
“I encourage [customers] to shop in confidence during this transition,” said Phil Baroni, founder of Mill Stores. Stores plan to offer discounts in an attempt to reduce inventory.
The closings are the result of increased competition in the New England area, declining demand for unfinished furniture, and a general weak economic climate over the past several years, according to a media release from the company.
