YORK, Maine — While working as a nurse at York Hospital, police say a Kennebunkport woman diverted narcotics from patients for her own personal use.
Nicolle Dauphinee, 45, has been summoned on a charge of stealing drugs, a Class C felony.
York Police say they received a complaint from York Hospital on Sept. 15 of the theft of narcotics by an employee.
Police interviewed Dauphinee on Sept. 19, when they say she admitted to diverting hydromorphone injections from patients and injecting the drugs into herself on site. Through interviews with hospital staff, police say they determined Dauphinee had been stealing the medication since June until her dismissal in September.
Dauphinee is scheduled to appear in York County Superior Court on Oct. 30.
According to a “consent agreement for probation with conditions” with the Maine State Board of Nursing, Dauphinee surrendered her nursing license in 2003 in a disciplinary action for drug diversion and for problems resulting from chemical dependency while working as a registered professional nurse in Texas. She submitted an application for licensure to the Maine State Board of Nursing in Maine in 2006, which was approved with a probationary period of two years.
