AUGUSTA, Maine — Police are searching for a man who allegedly robbed a Mt. Vernon Avenue convenience store at gunpoint early Friday morning.
The robbery of Cumberland Farms was reported at 2:10 a.m., according to Augusta police Lt. Christopher Massey.
The robber, who had most of his face covered with a bandana, entered the store, displayed his firearm and demanded cash from a clerk, according to Massey.
He fled the scene on foot and was tracked with a state police K-9 unit along Mt. Vernon Avenue until the scent was lost, Massey said.
The robber is a younger-looking man weighing 130-165 pounds, and he was wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, light-colored cargo pants and gloves, Massey said.
